Peera — Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to Peera, a Korean-language learning application for children provided by Peer (the "Developer"). Peera is primarily used by children under 14.

2. Information We Collect

The Service itself does not store your child's audio recordings. However, converting speech to text is handled by the speech recognition built into the browser (web view), and in that process the audio may be transmitted to and processed by the browser vendor's servers (Google on Android/Chrome, Apple on iOS). This is a standard browser/OS feature; see Section 4 below for details.

3. Purpose of Use

• Providing the learning service — story reading, vocabulary, drawing and handwriting diaries
• Generating AI-based diary corrections, writing help, and Laity's conversational responses
• Providing learning progress reports for guardians
• Backup and sync so data can be restored after changing or reinstalling on a device

4. Processing Entrusted to Third Parties and Overseas Transfer

We entrust processing to the parties below for AI features and data backup. Guardians may decline overseas transfer; if declined, the corresponding AI features (diary correction, voice conversation) will be unavailable.

Method and timing: transmitted over the network with HTTPS encryption at the moment the relevant feature is used.

5. Notice Regarding AI Providers' Use of Data

• Google (Gemini API) — paid tier. Google does not use prompts or responses submitted on the paid tier to improve its products. (The free tier differs and may use content for training, but the App does not use the free tier.)
• Anthropic (Claude API) — paid commercial terms. Under those terms, submitted content is not used to train AI models.

Note that handwriting recognition (Google Input Tools) and the browser's built-in speech recognition are separate services from the two AI providers above, and their handling of data follows each provider's own policy (Google, Apple). The Developer does not control those individually.

6. Processed On Your Device

Note: step 1 of handwriting recognition and speech recognition happen off the device. See the table in Section 4.

7. Children Under 14 and Guardian Consent

This service is primarily used by children under 14. Consent from a legal guardian is required for the collection and use of a child's personal information and for overseas transfer. We obtain this consent through a guardian verification and consent process on first use.

Guardians may withdraw consent at any time and request access, correction, deletion, or suspension of processing. Data can be deleted directly via [Settings > Reset Data] in the app, or by contacting us below.

8. Sharing Your Child's Writing (Optional Feature)

The Service may offer an optional feature that shows a child's writing to other users. All other features remain fully available without it, and using it requires separate consent as described below.

• ① What becomes visible — Only one diary entry the child chooses, shown with the nickname and avatar used in the league. Real name, age, region, school and contact details are never disclosed, and drawings and photos are not shared. Nicknames are assembled from words the app offers, so they cannot be a real name.
• ② Review before publishing — When a child asks to share, the Service automatically scans the text for things like contact details, addresses or school names, then shows the guardian both that result and the full text. The entry is published only after the guardian approves. The automatic scan is an aid and cannot catch everything, so the final judgement rests with the guardian.
• ③ Who can see it — Published writing may be shown to other users of the Service. It is not indexed by search engines and is not posted to outside sites.
• ④ Storage and deletion — Shared writing is stored in the same infrastructure used for backups (Supabase, see section 4) and the child or guardian may remove it at any time. Removal deletes it without delay, and it is also deleted when the account is closed or the data is reset.
• ⑤ Withdrawing consent — Consent to sharing may be withdrawn at any time; anything already published is taken down as well. You can withdraw in the app's settings or via the contact below.

※ You may report another user's writing if you find it inappropriate. Reported entries are hidden until they have been reviewed.

9. Retention and Destruction

a. Retention

• Diaries and learning records: for the duration of use (destroyed upon deletion request)
• Data transmitted for AI processing: per each processor's policy, as stated in Sections 4 and 5

b. Method — Running [Settings > Reset Data] deletes data stored on the device and on the backup server without delay, and records the deletion so it cannot be restored by resync. Electronic files are deleted irrecoverably.

10. Your Rights

Guardians may request access, correction, deletion, or suspension of processing of personal information, and may withdraw consent. Contact us below and we will act without delay and inform you of the result.

11. Security Measures

• All externally transmitted data is encrypted with HTTPS.
• Backup data is stored separately per user with restricted access.
• Laity's voice is synthesized on the device, eliminating transmission for that part entirely.
• Information that has served its purpose is deleted irrecoverably.

12. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will announce the change and its effective date in the app and on this page. In particular, any change to the AI data usage described in Section 5 will be reflected immediately.
